WHFS in Huffington Post

WHFS featured in a Huffington Post article by Rita Lobowho wrote about International Women's Day and the fight against FGM/C (female genital mutilation /cutting).

The article quotes WHFS's Sharon Hanooman who refers to the successful community programme, run by WHFS, which helps those directly affected by FGM /C. The article describes how WHFS is able to effectively communicate with those local women affected and provide valuable support and education in relation to FGM /C.

Also mentioned is Hoda Ali, an FGM /C survivor, and the work she carries out in tandem with WHFS to help women who have been subjected to FGM /C and the campaigns against this illegal and harmful practice. Hoda recently appeared on BBC London News with Sharon Hanooman.

The article is a reminder that women continue to have their rights violated in our own neighbourhoods, not just abroad, and it highlights the importance of local organisations like WHFS.

Rita Lobo attended a fundraising breakfast on 6 March in aid of WHFS and the Stop FGM Event Chain hosted by Kate Tojeiro of Xfusion, at which Hoda Ali and Sharon Hanooman spoke about WHFS's work and stopping FGM /C.
