Trustee Board Joint Chair - Myra Garrett

Myra Garrett has lived in Tower Hamlets since 1974, and has worked in the voluntary sector around public health and health equality for over 45 years.  She helped set up the Maternity Services Liaison Scheme (the original name of Women’s Health & Family Services) in 1981.

Myra says that WHFS has always been one of the few truly multi-ethnic charitable service providers in the area, and has been both personally educational and a privilege to play a part in its growth over the years.  She hopes to carry the values of the organisation and its commitment to women’s development into its current and future activities.

Myra was given a Community Champions Award in October 2014 by the Canary Wharf Group for her outstanding work addressing health inequalities in Tower Hamlets, and you can read more about Myra's volunteer work by clicking here.
